Scene

White trees, black trees
Naked in the solitary park:
A scene of mourning, bleak ...
White trees, black trees.

Again the regrets weep in the park ...

With white feathers, black feathers
Wanders a bird with a stark
Voice through the age-old park ...
With white feathers, black feathers.

The phantoms appear in the park ...

And white leaves, black leaves;
White trees, black trees;
And white feathers, black feathers,
A scene of mourning, bleak ...

A gradual, thin snowfall in the park ...

India ink and white acrylic ink
Toned paper is sketchbook

Wow, first of all, no request today! Luala's taking a break!
I woke up this morning with this very idea in my head. So, naturally, I had to paint it.

This is a poem my grandmother likes a lot, and I learn it from her.
Oh wait, what??? Luala, you're not French???
Well... yes... and no... not from birth. I'm from Moldova.
Now you know.
Lal

The poem of course... sounds way better in the original version: youtu.be/-fVyOJyEELE

Decor

Copacii albi, copacii negri
Stau goi în parcul solitar
Decor de doliu funerar ...
Copacii albi, copacii negri.

În parc regretele plâng iar ...

Cu pene albe, pene negre
O pasăre cu glas amar
Strãbate parcul secular ...
Cu pene albe, pene negre ...

În parc fantomele apar ...

Şi frunze albe, frunze negre;
Copacii albi, copacii negri;
Şi pene albe, pene negre,
Decor de doliu funerar ...

În parc ninsoarea cade iar ...

But it won't help you to read it hahaha. It is a really really beautiful poem. The sounds are just better...

I really really missed doing illustrated literature (see Amarantheans, one T!!!), and this month I brough you TWO of them, so I'm really happy ^^
I want to keep improving the real book effect. This is why, this time, I painted on the left page in my sketchbok and left the right page blank. Then I scanned them both in the same file and added the text on the right page. Hihihi, Luala's feeling so proud.

What else? Trees. Again, but they're really nice to paint and to look at. And I suppose it's a good skill to acquire. For my future illustrated books, of course =D

I also wanted (for a long time) to explore more the black and whie ink on toned paper. This time though, it looks better scanned. It really surprised me, I had almost no adjustment to make. The sketchbook paper is a bit too thin for liquid ink and it warps a little. But if you put it on the other side of the room then yeah it looks good =D

UPDATE

I had originally imagined a layout for the poem, but because of copyright, I switched to illustration only.
You can see here what I had in mind, in a world where I had the rights to use the poem directly ^^

I do love the striking color on the brown paper, you captured the trees beautifully.
