INKTOBER 2016 day 15

Illustration of a poem by George Bacovia (1881-1957), a Romanian poet.

India ink and white acrylic ink
Toned paper is sketchbook
A5 x2

Wow, first of all, no request today! Luala's taking a break!
I woke up this morning with this very idea in my head. So, naturally, I had to paint it.

This is a poem my grandmother likes a lot, and I learn it from her.
Oh wait, what??? Luala, you're not French???
Well... yes... and no... not from birth. I'm from Moldova.
Now you know.
Lal

The poem of course... sounds way better in the original version:

Decor

Copacii albi, copacii negri
Stau goi în parcul solitar
Decor de doliu funerar ...
Copacii albi, copacii negri.

În parc regretele plâng iar ...

Cu pene albe, pene negre
O pasăre cu glas amar
Strãbate parcul secular ...
Cu pene albe, pene negre ...

În parc fantomele apar ...

Şi frunze albe, frunze negre;
Copacii albi, copacii negri;
Şi pene albe, pene negre,
Decor de doliu funerar ...

În parc ninsoarea cade iar ...

But it won't help you to read it hahaha. It is a really really beautiful poem. The sounds are just better...

I really really missed doing illustrated literature (see Amarantheans, one T!!!), and this month I brough you TWO of them, so I'm really happy ^^
I want to keep improving the real book effect. This is why, this time, I painted on the left page in my sketchbok and left the right page blank. Then I scanned them both in the same file and added the text on the right page. Hihihi, Luala's feeling so proud.

What else? Trees. Again, but they're really nice to paint and to look at. And I suppose it's a good skill to acquire. For my future illustrated books, of course =D

I also wanted (for a long time) to explore more the black and whie ink on toned paper. This time though, it looks better scanned. It really surprised me, I had almost no adjustment to make. The sketchbook paper is a bit too thin for liquid ink and it warps a little. But if you put it on the other side of the room then yeah it looks good =D

Oh well, you just need a poem (you have many of them), some kraft paper, white ink and black ink, a few brushes =D
Oooor a good artist, which you can find at CollaborativeMinds =P (we're looking for more contributors for pieces seeking collaboration
Well, as long as they're not too much, you know the usual we don't accept this or that pack the groups provide...

It's a lot easier to rhyme in Italian, I find!
But this is a great piece, both the poem and the painting!

Well done! :w00t:

I'm not good at rhyming anyway =D

My writings are more bold and choppy
Though I love this, I still wish I could make something more... musical ^^

Rhyming in different languages can be quite different. I find it hard to rhyme in English (but that doesn't stop me from trying, of course... ^^;

Musical lyrics sometimes use slant-rhymes (words that sound like they could rhyme but actually doesn't). You might consider it for the future! Besides, if you consider counting meter in the language, a lot of words become more musical that way. And some languages are definitely easier than others when doing this. Italian is simpler than French, for example. So... it doesn't hurt to look into it. :)

yeah no, I'm not considering counting
Unless it is purposedly different, unever, broken
Like these napowrimo piece,I had fun with them

Sunny day (cinquain)The Sun
High in the sky
A show I cannot see
A forbidden love, for I am
The Moon.
The artist's breakfast (tyburn)Sketching
Doodling
Drawing
Painting
I am in a drawing, painting mood
And I want some sketching, doodling food.

I like fixed forms that are something else than a simple rhyming column

Some of the poetry forms can be choppy and eclectic. And most of them are more than just a simple rhyming column! (I believe the "rhyming column" business is just there to get children interested in trying their hands on poetry.) Only the older ones have tough forms and meters, but the new ones can be fun. At the end of the day, having some internal structure would help the poem sound more lyrical.

After all, that's how "lyrics" were written in the first place, right? ^^;

This is beautiful! So simple, yet so striking!

But unfortunately for me, I looked at the trees a certain way, and the knots on them suddenly looked like eyes. Now I can't unsee it! T_T

Oh yeah, I also called them eyes when I was drawing them.
Actually I had a tree when I was little, well it's still there but I'm not there anymore.
And it had (still has) a biiiig knot at my little head level. And it's was THE EYE =D

hm.... creepy I know
